01 / STORE

Check your store region and account

Shadowrocket is not available on the mainland China App Store. App Store availability depends on the country or region associated with the Apple ID used for purchases—not your device’s interface language or your current location. Open the product page linked on this site. If it says the app isn’t available in your country or region, check your account’s store region before deciding what to do next. Don’t mistake a similarly named search result for the same app.

Check your current store region

On your device, go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region. You may be asked to verify your identity. Menu names can vary slightly by system version, so follow what appears on your device. Check the account used for media purchases—not just the account shown at the top of Settings for device and cloud services. These accounts may be signed in separately.

Note the country or region, then return to the App Store and check whether the product page is available. A storefront path in a browser link does not change your account’s region. Check the App Store for purchase confirmation, local pricing, and payment requirements. If prompted to switch stores, read the system message carefully; opening a link does not itself change your region.

Where to change your country or region

To find the region-change option, go to Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region, then follow the option shown by the system. Whether you can change regions may depend on your account balance, active subscriptions, pending purchases, Family Sharing status, and payment details. Resolve any issues listed by the system before proceeding. A region change may not always be possible.

Changing your region affects your entire store account, not just this app. Before proceeding, review how it may affect existing purchases and services, and keep your purchase records. If the option is unavailable or your account is restricted, use Apple Support on your device for help with your account. Don’t repeatedly change account details if you’re unsure what a message means. For step-by-step guidance, see the App Store access guide.

02 / VERIFY

How to identify the official Shadowrocket app

Use the name to find the app, then verify the developer, official icon, and app ID.

In Chinese-language guides, Shadowrocket may also be referred to by a nickname, but that nickname does not establish an app’s identity. Search results may include apps with similar names, icons, or keywords. Before purchasing, open the product page and check all three details below rather than relying on the title, ranking, or icon color in the search results.

CheckWhat to look for
DeveloperShadow Launch Technology Limited
Official iconA white background with a blue-purple outlined rocket, matching the official icon in this site’s header
App ID932747118; the product page URL includes id932747118

Check the developer’s full name first

In the App Store product details, find the developer or provider and verify the exact name: Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Don’t rely on similar wording in the description or check only part of the name. A matching or similar app name does not mean the developer is the same. If this detail doesn’t match, stop and return to the product page linked on this site.

Then check the icon and app ID

The official icon has a white background and a blue-purple outlined rocket. Compare it with the official icon in this site’s header. Use the icon as a visual aid, then verify the app ID. Check the browser address or use the App Store share option to view the product link; look for id932747118. Readable text in the name or URL is not a unique identifier—the app ID is the stable identifier for the product listed here.

All three details should match: the full developer name, the icon, and the app ID. If a product page opened from search results doesn’t match the details here, don’t proceed just because its name includes Shadowrocket. After verification, check the price, compatibility, and purchase confirmation. Check update details on the same App Store product page rather than relying on search snippets.

03 / IPHONE

Buy and open Shadowrocket on iPhone

See the App Store page for system requirements.

Open the product page on the iPhone you plan to use. Verify the app, then expand the compatibility details to check that your device is supported. Don’t infer compatibility from the device model alone or from someone else’s experience. Make sure Media & Purchases is signed in to your account, then check the app name, currency, and amount on the purchase confirmation. Complete any identity verification requested by the system and wait for the download to finish.

Check purchase and download issues separately

If you can’t complete the purchase, read the specific App Store message and check your account status, payment method, and any pending items. If the purchase succeeded but the app is still waiting or downloading, check your network connection and available storage, then follow the options shown by the system. These issues happen at different stages; repeatedly tapping the purchase button won’t help diagnose a download problem.

If you’re unsure whether you were charged, check your account’s purchase history and purchased items before taking further action. The price shown on the store page alone doesn’t tell you whether the account on this device already owns the app. Check both the signed-in account and its purchase history. If the purchase status doesn’t look right, keep the system message and contact Apple Support from your device.

VPN configuration prompt on first connection

After installation, open the app and take a look at Home, the main workspace. Have your own subscription or server details ready to import. The first time you try to connect, the system may ask to add a VPN configuration. This is a system permission for network configuration. Make sure you’re using Shadowrocket, read the prompt, and decide whether to allow it. Granting permission does not provide server details or guarantee that a remote service will connect.

If you declined permission, return to the app and follow the prompt when you next need to connect. You can also find the configuration in the VPN section of system settings. Don’t confuse “app installed,” “system permission granted,” and “connection working”: installation comes from the store, permission is controlled by the system, and a working connection depends on your configuration and service status. See the first-use guide for import and verification steps.

04 / IPAD

iPad and other Apple devices

Check the purchase account first, then verify compatibility on the device you want to use.

Shadowrocket is compatible with iPhone and iPad. Buy it once with the same Apple ID to install it on compatible iPhone and iPad devices; you don’t need to purchase it separately for each. See the App Store page for iPad system requirements. On the iPad, check which account is signed in to Media & Purchases, then find the app on the same product page or in that account’s purchased items.

If you’ve already bought Shadowrocket on iPhone but your iPad still asks you to pay, stop before confirming the purchase. Check that both devices use the same store account and that the original purchase appears in its history. Using the same account for cloud services does not guarantee that the same account is used for store purchases. Check the sign-in under Media & Purchases, and don’t submit another payment just to test the status.

Different screen layouts, same checks

The iPad’s larger screen may change how content is arranged and what’s visible. Refer to the actual app interface. Find settings by their English labels, such as Home, Config, and Global Routing, rather than relying on where a button appears on the screen. The official guide keeps these labels so you can follow the steps on different devices.

An app purchase record does not mean connection settings have synced between devices. After installing on iPad, check your existing subscriptions, server entries, and active Config. Import your saved details if needed, and confirm VPN permission on the iPad. Whether both devices can connect at the same time also depends on the limits of your service; a universal app purchase does not determine service access.

Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision

The compatibility section of the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. If you want to use Shadowrocket on one of these devices, check compatibility and purchase status on that device. Universal purchase availability and system requirements are as listed on the App Store page. iPhone and iPad instructions may not match the layouts or settings on other devices, and settings may differ between devices.

05 / RESTORE

Restore purchases when switching or reinstalling

Find your purchase record first, then restore your own connection details.

If you purchased the app with the same Apple ID and it’s still available, you can redownload it from purchased items when switching devices or reinstalling, without paying again. On the new device, open App Store → Account → Purchased, find Shadowrocket, and choose to download it again. Menu names may vary by system version; look for the app purchase list for that account.

Can’t find it in purchased items? Check your account first

Make sure you’re signed in to the store account used for the original purchase, then check whether the app appears in its purchase history. If you’ve hidden purchases, check the relevant account settings too. Account region, current availability, and device compatibility can all affect redownloading. Follow the system prompts, and don’t assume you need to buy the app again just because it isn’t immediately visible in the list.

If you can find the original purchase record but the product page still shows an unexpected status, keep the record and any system messages, then contact Apple through its account support options. This guide explains how to access purchase records; it can’t determine the transaction status of a specific App Store account. Family Sharing eligibility and access depend on the details shown on the App Store page and in Family settings. Don’t confuse restoring a purchase on the same account with purchase access for family members.

Restoring the app and restoring your configuration are separate

Redownloading restores access to the app; your purchase record does not recreate your subscriptions or server details. Before switching devices, gather your existing subscription links, server parameters, and any Config files you need. Save them using the export or backup options available in the app, and check that the saved content is complete. Keep any access credentials secure; don’t put them in public documents or publicly shared screenshots.

After installing on the new device, import your own subscription or server details, then check the selected Global Routing mode, active configuration, and connection permission. Test one specific access need before restoring more custom settings. This makes it easier to identify whether an issue comes from the imported details, routing choice, or connection. If you can’t recover your original information, check with the service you use; app purchase records don’t replace connection details.

If your old device is still working, import and test your details on the new device before changing anything on the old one. Don’t just check whether server names appear; verify that the entry parameters, rules, and policy references match. If you use On Demand, check the trigger conditions on the new device too, so they suit your current network.

06 / PURCHASE

Price and one-time purchase details

Check the app purchase, your existing connection service, and device permissions separately.

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app sold as a one-time purchase through the App Store, with no monthly charge for the client. The US storefront reference price is $2.99; prices are shown in local currency on other storefronts. Check the App Store page and purchase confirmation for the actual amount. Currency and payment terms vary by region, so the US reference price is not a fixed price everywhere.

To use the app, you’ll need your own subscription or server details. The app processes connections and rules according to your configuration. Check your service’s management portal for its validity period, traffic limits, device limits, and current availability. Completing the app purchase and having a working remote service are separate conditions; neither proves the other.

Where to check updates and purchase history

App updates are delivered through the App Store. Depending on your device’s store settings, you can use automatic updates or check the account’s updates list. Refer to the product page’s version history and the app’s own notes for update details. This guide doesn’t list fixed version numbers or dates, which could become outdated. Save important custom configuration details before updating.

Check the App Store account’s purchase history for proof of your app purchase. Subscription entries in the app are connection details; “purchase” and “subscription” refer to different things here. To confirm you bought the app, check the store record. To check whether an existing subscription has expired or failed to update, review your saved subscription link and the service status.

Final checks before purchase

Verify the developer and app ID, confirm the app is available in your account’s store region, check device compatibility, and review the purchase confirmation. These steps help you verify the app, account, and device separately before paying. After installation, if you need help with configuration, see the official getting started guide or settings guide. Reinstalling or repurchasing won’t resolve a configuration issue.

PURCHASE / FAQ

Download and purchase FAQ

Start by identifying the stage of the issue: store availability, purchase confirmation, download status, or app configuration. Handle each separately.

Why can’t I find Shadowrocket on the App Store?

Shadowrocket is not available on the mainland China App Store. First check the country or region for the Apple ID used for Media & Purchases, then use the product page link on this site to check availability in that store. Your device language and physical location do not determine your account’s store region. Don’t choose a search result based on a similar name alone.

What if the product page opens but the purchase or download won’t complete?

First, determine whether the purchase failed or the download was interrupted, and note the full App Store message. Check your account sign-in, payment method, available device storage, network connection, and compatibility. If payment went through, check your purchase history and purchased items before trying again. If the issue persists, use Apple Support from your device.

Do I have to pay again when I get a new iPhone or reinstall the app?

If you purchased the app with the same Apple ID and it’s still available, you can redownload it from your App Store account’s purchased items without paying for it again. A purchase record does not back up your configuration. Before switching devices, save your own subscription, server details, and configuration separately.

Can I install it on my iPad if I bought it for iPhone?

The iPhone and iPad versions are compatible. After purchasing once with the same Apple ID, you can redownload the app on a compatible iPad. Check that Media & Purchases is signed in with the account used for the original purchase. See the App Store page for system requirements. Check connection permissions and existing configurations on the iPad.

Can I use the same App Store listing on Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision?

The compatibility section of the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Check compatibility and purchase status on the device you plan to use. Compatibility, universal purchase availability, and system requirements are as listed on the App Store page.

The app interface is in English. How do I follow the official guide?

The official guide uses the interface’s English labels. Home is the main workspace; Add Server adds existing server details; Config is for configuration files; and Global Routing selects a routing mode. Follow the guide using these labels, and don’t delete existing configurations just to change the interface language.
